Are you getting notifications from Google Chrome and don’t know how to turn them off? If you’re running a device, our simple guide will show you how to disable unwanted chrome notifications and regain control over your notifications and make sure they never come back.
What are Chrome Notifications and How do they Work?
By default, Chrome alerts you whenever a website, app, or extension wants to send you notifications. You can change this setting at any time. When you browse sites with intrusive or misleading notifications, Chrome automatically blocks notifications and recommends you continue to block these notifications
5 Steps to Disable Unwanted Chrome Notifications
- Open Chrome and tap the More menu.
- Select Settings from the menu.
- Under Advanced, select Site Settings.
- Tap Notifications and toggle off for each site listed.
- Disable notifications Completely.
To disable unwanted Chrome notifications, first open the app on your Android device and tap the More menu (three vertical dots) in the top right corner. This will open a dropdown menu with various options; select Settings from this list. This will open a new page that houses all of your browser settings. Look for Notifications and scroll down to find it.
To adjust the settings for Chrome notifications, tap the word Notifications. Here, you can choose which websites can send interruptions and also determine how they appear–whether a pop-up box appears on your screen, plays a sound or vibrate, or the notification appears in your phone’s status bar. For example, you could allow notifications from Twitter but opt to only receive them as alerts on your home screen.
Under Advanced, select Site Settings.
In the Site Settings screen, tap Notifications. Here, you can view a list of websites that you have allowed or blocked from sending notifications. To adjust a setting for any website, tap the site name and then select Block or Allow. If desired, you can also customize how website notifications appear by selecting Sound, Vibrate, or Pop-up.
Tap Notifications and toggle off for each site listed.
Once you’ve tapped Notifications, you’ll be able to view a list of websites that are allowed or blocked from sending notifications. Look through the list of allowed notification and toggle off any sites that you don’t want to receive notifications from. If desired, you can also customize how each website displays its notifications by tapping on the site name and then select Sound, Vibrate, or Pop-up.
Completely Disable all Chrome Notifications.
After you have turned off any website notifications that you don’t want to receive, you can take a step further and completely disable Unwanted Chrome notifications. To do this, go back to the Notifications menu and toggle “Ask before sending” off. With this option disabled, Chrome will automatically block all notifications from appearing from websites visited in Chrome on your Android device.
